Intensive Summer courses
The intensive Summer Courses run for 4 consecutive days, Monday through Thursday throughout the month of January!
Summer is when we want to have as much freedom as possible, try new things, visit new places and make the most of it. Therefore we introduce to you our Intensive 4-day Summer Courses so you can still get your dance fix in! Try new classes, different styles and still have the freedom to plan your get-aways over summer! Plus it will be a quick and easy way to get you having fun on the dance floor in a short amount of time.
All courses will be taught by multiple national, international and World Salsa Champion - Giancarlo. Gian started teaching Salsa & Bachata in 2003 and has been a professional instructor for over 15 years teaching litterally thousands of people to dance and have fun! Courses will run from Monday through Thursday, one hour each class. Different styles, levels and specialty courses are available as listed below. Give it a try! Can I just try a class?
Of course you can! If you wish to simply try a class, just come along - no need to book! Just make sure you have cash ready for the individual class. Casual visits are $25/person/class. However, keep in mind by joining a courses you will get to know your fellow dancers better, build friendships and you get the best deal as well!
Brief course description
NEW! FUN DANCE ANIMATIONS - This course does not require any previous dance knowledge or partner at all throughout the course. Dance "animations" are easy, upbeat, energetic and most importantly lots of fun! Overseas, specially in European countries such as Spain & Italy, animations are a huge part of Latin parties and its what makes people jump up and join the dance floor! Gian will teach you various routines step-by-step and then we put it all together to music! Its super easy! You will need to wear comfortable clothing and shoes or can be barefoot as well - no problem here! Lots of water as you will get very hot, yup it'll be like a workout! Oh, and bring a towel! NEW STRUCTURE! BODY MOVEMENT - This is not a "styling" course. This is about gaining understanding of the body mechanics in order to create fluidity when dancing and as result “execute” the movement rather than “doing” the movement. Styling can only be added once you understand body movement. Styling is the “cream, cherry and sprinkle” on top of the cake. Body movement is the "cake" - the base that is put together by different elements. This course will go over many of the details we normally don't have enough time for in the regular courses. We will cover everything starting from your feet to ankles, knees, hips, shoulders, arms, ribcage and more. All of this falls under body movement as it is important to understand the relation from one to the other in order to understand coordination, weight transfer, isolations etc. These technical details are important if you want to make your dancing smooth, simple, graceful and have (or understand) control of each movement. SALSA - Upbeat, fun and exciting! This is thee most popular Latin dance in the world and does not need much introduction as it is the King of Latin dance styles! We teach both Salsa On1, which means our breaking step will be on the first count of the music and Salsa On2 which means our breaking step will be on the second count of the music. What's difference does it make - HUGE! It primarily changes the dynamics of the dance completely! Plus lots other details. Both styles use the exact same basic steps, but different timing, therefor a change in the dynamics. Come and explore the different styles and which one you prefer! UPDATED CURRICULUM! BACHATA - The Bachata courses have gotten and are still getting a complete makeover to create a more progressive, easier to follow and richer curriculum! We are super excited about rolling out these newly structured courses in the new year! This dance falls under the "Sensual" category as it is in general a more closed and slow paced dance. In the past few years Bachata has exploded in popularity in the Latin dance scene! Mainly due to the music, simple steps and sensual nature. Very easy to learn and still remains challenging for those who want to explore the trends and roots of Bachata. Gian has completely updated and improved the curriculum for the bachata courses making it a lot more structured, progressive and easier to follow! He will be conducting all bachata courses. NEW! BACHATA SENSUAL TECHNIQUE & FUNDAMENTALS - In regular classes we only get a chance to scratch the surface of the technical aspects of the dance. Many people ask questions such as how do I lead/follow better all these cool bachata moves, what are the signals or indications to lead, how do I read the leads, how do I do isolations etc, etc. In this course we will break down, drill and apply all technical and fundamental elements applicable specifically for Bachata Sensual and show you how to put them in practice! Since these are FUNDAMENTALS they can also be applied to other Latin dance styles but we will put them in practice to Bachata Sensual. Elements we will cover include 1. Timing & Rhythm, 2. Connection, 3. Lead & Follow, 4. Isolation, 5. Body rolls & waves. You will discover techniques and fundamentals you probably never knew of or how to apply! This course is suitable for ALL LEVELS 2 and above. Not suitable for complete beginners.
NEW! SALSA SHINES - One of the key characteristics of Salsa dancing. This goes hand in hand with partnerwork. Salsa shines is when you dance on your own and create footwork patterns to complement your salsa dancing. Salsa shines are a huge element for anyone wanting to learn salsa. Reason being because it makes you focus on your own timing, rhythm, balance, coordination, weight transfer, directional change, technique and most importantly - hold your own on the dance floor!
