Intensive Summer courses
These courses run for 4 consecutive days, Monday to Thursday throughout January!
Summer is the season when we want to get away and do different things all the time to make the most of summer! Therefore we thought, instead of committing to an 8 week course why not do an intensive 4-day course to get your dance fix, try different styles and still have the freedom to plan a week away here and there over summer! Plus it will be a quick and easy way to get you having fun on the dance floor in a short amount of time.
Salsa and Bachata courses will be taught by multiple national, international and World Salsa Champions - Giancarlo (& Masha, when available). Dharsh & Shantini from Studio 7 Latin Dance will teach the Zouk courses and Shane Day will take charge of the new dance craze, Kizomba. Brief course description
BODY MOVEMENT - NOTE: This is not a "styling" course where you learn how to do body rolls etc. This is about gaining understanding of the body mechanics in order to create fluidity when dancing and as result “execute” the movement rather than “doing” the movement. Styling can only be added once you understand body movement. Styling is the “cream, cherry and sprinkle” on top of the cake. Body movement is the cake - the base that is put together by different elements. This course is specifically tailored to go over many of the details we normally don't have enough time for in the regular courses. We will cover everything from head to toes. Head, shoulders, arms, hands, torso, hips, legs, knees, ankles, feet and toes. All of this falls under body movement as it is important to understand the relation from one to the other in order to understand coordination, weight transfer, isolations etc. These technical details are important to make your dancing smooth, simple, graceful and will lay the foundation to many of the courses. SALSA - Without a doubt the King of Latin dance styles! We will be focusing on salsa on1, which means our breaking step will be on the first count of the music. Gian will be conducting all salsa courses. For full info on salsa please click HERE
BACHATA - Extremely popular in the Auckland Latin dance scene due to the simple steps and sensual nature. Very easy to learn but still remains challenging for those who want to explore the trends of Bachata. Gian will be conducting all bachata courses. For full info on Bachata please click HERE
KIZOMBA - This style went viral in Europe a few years ago where there are now endless festivals and dance nights dedicated to Kizomba only. Most recently it made its way to the US and is skyrocketing in popularity. Why so incredibly poplular? Because it is perfect for anyone who wants to start partner dancing due to its softness and easy basic steps, allowing any novice to gradually evolve to more complex repertoire. More importantly, it allows a beginner to enjoy the pleasure of social dancing much earlier than any other type of partner dance. The music is simple and familiar to most people. The rhythm is very easy to pick up and easy identifiable. Come learn this dance craze which is growing more and more in popularity in Auckland. Our instructor Shane will be leading the Kizomba courses. More about Kizomba please click HERE
ZOUK - The ever popular, elegant and sensual Brazilian zouk dancing. Amazing music, fluid movement across the floor and beautiful to both dance and watch. The multiple zouk champions and experienced professional instructors Dharsh & Shantini from Studio 7 Latin Dance will introduce you to this dance and take you through all the important elements to explore zouk dancing further. For full info on Zouk please click HERE
SALSA SHINES - One of the key characteristics of Salsa dancing. This goes hand in hand with partnerwork. Salsa shines is when you dance on your own and create footwork patterns to complement your salsa dancing. Salsa shines are a huge element for anyone wanting to learn salsa. Reason being because it makes you focus on your own timing, rhythm, balance, coordination, weight transfer, directional change, technique and most importantly - hold your own on the dance floor! Join Gian for a fun Salsa Shines challenge open to all levels! For more info on salsa please click HERE
Hope to see you dancing real soon!
