Kizomba as a dance and music genre originates from the African country of Angola. The term "kizomba" comes from the linguistic expression Kimbundo, which means "party".

Kizomba was born in the 1980's in the capital of Angola, Luanda, after major musical influences from Carribbean Zouk (not to be confused with Brazilian Zouk) and has its origins from Semba, a popular Angolan music genre. In the 60's big parties between friends were already refered to "Kizombadas" since Kizomba didn't exist as a dance or musical genre at that time.

Intensive Summer courses

These courses run for 4 consecutive days, Monday to Thursday throughout January!

Summer is the season when we want to get away and do different things all the time to make the most of summer! Therefore we thought, instead of committing to an 8 week course why not do an intensive 4-day course to get your dance fix, try different styles and still have the freedom to plan a week away here and there over summer! Plus it will be a quick and easy way to get you having fun on the dance floor in a short amount of time.

You've probably heard of a dance called Lambada from the 80's. Brazilian Zouk actually evolved from Lambada, only much more stylized and elegant!

Zouk-Lambada is a group of closely related dance styles based on or evolved from the lambada dance style. Zouk today is the evolution of Lambada and it is super smooth, romantic, hypnotic with long, fluent, wave-like movements and surprisingly easy to learn! Unlike the fast paced, energetic and explosive LambaZouk. Brazilian Zouk or Zouk-Lambada is used to distinguish the dance from the Caribbean Zouk dance style, which is historically related to, but very different from the Brazilian Zouk-Lambada dance style.
